Pima Animal Care Center After accepting 288 dogs into shelters in the past seven days, there is an urgent need to provide foster and adoptive homes to alleviate overcrowding. PACC has also massacred 37 dogs as part of a cruelty investigation, pushing PACC’s current census to 496 of his dogs and 102 of his cats.
Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services, said dogs are staying at PACC longer than ever before due to the high number of dogs in the shelter.
“The longer the dog stays here, the more stressed it becomes,” Dangler said. “High levels of stress put dogs at risk for disease and behavioral decline, so it’s important to bring these dogs home early.”
PACC is the only open admissions shelter serving Pima County and is unable to evict animals in need, especially sick, injured and aggressive animals. In December, PACC produced its first euthanasia list in years. The move was a last resort to protect the safety and welfare of the employees, volunteers and animals in PACC’s care in the face of severe overcrowding.
“PACC needs foster, adoption, and rescue partners to help these dogs,” Dangler said. “By stepping up now, you could literally save a dog’s life. increase.”
Community members can also help PACC reduce census and prevent euthanasia by:
- By posting on social media, having their microchips scanned, and asking people nearby if they know where the animals belonged, you can help happy, healthy stray dogs find their way home. I will help.
- Collars, tags and microchips are used to help identify pets and make it easier for animals to find their way home if lost.
- Whenever a member of the public loses a pet, it should be checked. PACC website Check daily to see if they have come to the shelter. In most cases, restocking fees are waived. The shelter hopes to reunite the owner with the pet and take it out of the shelter.
- donation destination Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.
