At its May 16 meeting, the Pima County Supervisory Board approved a total of $35,000 for external funding through the Department of Tourism and Tourism, ending tourism funding for 2022-23. Approved funds will be distributed to three external parties.
Organizations receiving funding include: Old Pueblo Trolley/Southern Arizona Transportation Museum, Tucson Symphony Orchestraand the Tucson Juneteenth Festival. Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc. will receive $15,000, while the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Tucson Juneteenth Festival will receive $10,000 each. Donations will be used for projects such as mural paintings, live concerts, and event management expenses.

“Our department’s mission is to ensure that Pima County remains one of the premier destinations for tourists and residents alike,” said Diane Frisch, director of attractions and tourism. increase. “Providing funding to a wide range of organizations helps us achieve that mission and ensure that everyone, whether interested or not, finds something to enjoy when they visit Pima County. With these funds, the Oversight Board will approve over $426,000 in grants to 22 different nonprofit organizations for the 2022-23 fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
