Typical pirate…
First baseman Rowdy Teres He was cut by the Pittsburgh Pirates. 6 games the remainder of the regular season.
Most of the time, I wouldn't care about this situation, but not Tellez, because the stingy Pirates sacked him with four at-bats remaining before he hit a spectacular home run. $200,000 bonusFans (and sports bloggers) aren't happy about this. Entering the 2024 season, Telles had 421 total at-bats and needed four more to earn the $200,000.
While there was no confirmation of this at the time, it didn't take long for people to realize that the Pirates were likely cheating on Tellez to save money — after all, this is a franchise with a strong history of being extremely stingy, and one of the worst franchises in MLB when it comes to broken ball.
One might wonder why the Pirates would do this with six games left in the season, but Telles would get $200,000 if he reaches 425 at-bats. He's reached 421. https://t.co/5Ksb4fuG9e

And think about it this way: Why would they DFA him at this point in the season? (Spoiler alert: There's no other reason.)
Oh, I have something to tell you about this too.
Derek Shelton mentioned Joshua Palacios as one of the young players he'd like to see brought in. Palacios will be 30 next season. Rowdy Telles is 5 months older than Palacios. Lol. #Pirates

I know “business is business” but the Pirates have taken things to a new level. What a shame.
