Pittsburgh’s Mason Alexander, 18, Tragically Dies In Car Accident

Pittsburgh freshman footballer Mason Alexander was tragically killed in a car accident in his hometown of the Fishers, Indiana on Saturday.

Around The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, he was in the passenger seat of the 2016 BMW, heading south of Florida Road. The vehicle tried to pass a 2015 Toyota and ended up winding so that it could escape a collision with another vehicle in its north lane. The car eventually came off the road and hit a tree, leading to a fire.

Alexander was a star cornerback at Fisher, Hamilton Southeastern High School in Indiana, and was close to Indianapolis. In the class of 2025, he was an ESPN 300 recruit. In December, he committed to Pittsburgh, becomes an early enrollee and is about to join a soccer program for spring practice starting in March.

“This morning, parents, teachers and coaches received a call saying they wanted to get so far. It’s news of the sudden loss of a young, promising life,” Pittsburgh head coach Pat Nalduzzi said in an official statement. “Our entire program is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Mason Alexander’s passing.”
