A French man has been taken into custody after police found his naked wife with a shaved head and multiple broken bones behind closed doors.

Police in Forbach, a town in northeastern France near the German border, have arrested a 55-year-old German man after receiving reports of possible abduction and torture in his home, Newsweek. report. The man’s 53-year-old wife reportedly managed to contact German authorities about her desperate situation. They then notified French law enforcement. according to Barons.

Officials arrived at the mansion and reportedly found her in a bedroom that had been cordoned off. Officers also allegedly found a notebook recording when the woman was fed and what authorities described as a “torture rack,” Newsweek reported. The woman said in a statement to authorities that she had been held against her will and tortured at her home since 2011, the newspaper said.

Authorities rushed the woman to the hospital, where she was found to have broken fingers and both legs, Newsweek reported.
