But police said Miller didn't know the truck had a tracking device, WSVN reported. Police reportedly found the truck near Griffin Road and arrested Miller.
Assistant State Attorney Eric Linder told WSVN that the person believed to be the woman who alerted the dealership employee was suspected of being recruited as a distraction.
“He concocted a scheme with the assistance of another person to distract the employees,” Linder alleged.
Mr. Linder also claimed that the attack was premeditated by Mr. Miller.
“It appears that Mr. Miller knew what the industry was planning to do to get his car back. By all appearances, he did,” Linder said. (RELATED: 'This is just a reckless move': Top UFC fighters slam boxing officials' decision to allow matches between men and women)
The former boxer is now charged with unarmed carjacking and robbery with assault, according to WSVN.
Miller's lawyers reportedly argued for a lesser charge, arguing there was no sufficient probable cause for the charges, but the judge disagreed during the hearing.
“Given the allegations in the probable cause affidavit, the level of force used, and the manner in which the crimes were committed, the court found probable cause on both counts,” the judge said, as reported by WSVN. .
