Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Shooting Teenager In Face After Students Tried To Take Homecoming Pictures

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) in Colorado announced on social media on Tuesday that a 38-year-old man had been arrested for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy in the face.

According to JCSO, officers were dispatched to the scene after a report of two teenagers trespassing, and when they arrived they found “one juvenile bleeding profusely from the face and the other juvenile applying pressure to his friend's wounds with a t-shirt.”

Police observed the suspect, Brent Metz, standing near the boys when they arrived. The victim alleged to officers that Metz “shot him through the windshield of his car.” The victim added that he and a friend were only there “to see if we could use the location for our homecoming photos” and had tried unsuccessfully to find the homeowner to get permission. The victim was then taken to the hospital, JCSO said. (RELATED: High school student arrested after allegedly shooting and killing classmate in bathroom, authorities say)

The sheriff's office alleged that the weapon Metz allegedly used to shoot the boy was found inside the 38-year-old man's truck. Police arrested the suspect on charges of first-degree assault, two counts of felony menacing, two counts of reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a weapon.
