Colombian police announced on Tuesday the arrest of Norwegian drug lord Pazouki Farhad, known as “The Professor.”
Farhad is alleged to have orchestrated a global drug trafficking operation using “drug smuggling ships” from South America to Europe. CBS News.
The suspected drug trafficker was arrested at Bogota's El Dorado airport, and his right-hand man was arrested in Barranquilla, the news agency said. (Related: Colombian Navy discovers 'ghost' submarine carrying over 2 tons of cocaine)
Police said Farhad had criminal ties to Clan del Golfo, Colombia's largest drug cartel, as well as Mexican drug cartels Sinaloa and Jalisco Nuevo Generación, and that he was suspected of conspiring with these criminal organizations to transport cocaine.

Spanish authorities have arrested 50 people linked to the professor in Spain and seven other countries. According to CBS News, authorities seized 1.5 tons of cocaine and eight sailing boats used to smuggle the drugs.
Europol has identified Farhad as a “high-value target” due to his long and extensive history in international drug trafficking spanning more than two decades. “He worked in the industry for more than 20 years and enjoyed the full trust of the Colombian and Mexican drug cartels with whom he coordinated shipments,” Europol explained.
