Police Capture Suspected Bar Killer After Extended Search

Capture of Montana Bar Shooter After Week-Long Search

Authorities managed to apprehend a man believed to have shot four people inside a bar in Montana last Friday, following an extensive week-long manhunt.

Michael Paul Brown, aged 45, reportedly opened fire around 10:30 AM at a bar in the southwestern Montana city of Anaconda. Official reports indicate that he used a rifle during the incident. Montana’s Governor, Greg Gianforte, announced Brown’s arrest on Friday, which took place in the mountains, thereby concluding the search that had begun on August 1st.

Governor Gianforte expressed gratitude towards the law enforcement efforts, noting, “Anaconda shooter Michael Brown has been arrested. An incredible response from Montana law enforcement officers. We thank all our partners for their commitment to search. May God be with the family of the four victims who are still grieving their loss.”

During the shooting, Brown killed bartender Nancy Lauretta Kelly, 64, and patron Daniel Edwin Bailey, 59, along with two others, David Allen Leach, 70, and Tony Wayne Palm, 74.

Brown, who joined the Army in 2001 and served in Iraq until 2009, has faced long-term mental health struggles, as reported by the Associated Press. One expert remarked, “This doesn’t mean that this is just a drunk going wild; it’s a sick person who doesn’t know who he is, and often doesn’t know where he is.”
