MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. — A man has died after being shot in Mojave Valley on Sunday, according to Mohave County Sheriff's Office officials.
Law enforcement officials responded to a home near Mojave Valley Highway and Laguna Drive just before 11 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting. Officials said when they arrived at the scene, they found Joshua Perea, 39, dead. Officers also found a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting at the scene.
Detectives responded to the scene and after a brief investigation determined that the man had been shot by his girlfriend following a “verbal and physical domestic violence incident,” the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. .
Officials said the woman has not been arrested. Detectives spoke with multiple witnesses and the woman at the scene and said the investigation is ongoing.
“Once the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the County Attorney's Office for consideration of potential charges,” Sheriff's Office officials said.
