Police Release Footage Of New Jersey Mayor’s Arrest For Alleged DUI After Locals Call For Her To Resign

Police have released footage of Mayor Gina Laplaka’s arrest on March 17th.

The video showed Laplaka interacting with police officers at her home in the moment leading up to her arrest. She seemed to stumble and lose her balance shortly after leaving her car.

“What did you drink?” asked one of the police officers. The mayor of Lumberton, New Jersey, appears to have replied, “a little bit of vodka.”

Laplaka’s young son was guided home as police conducted an outdoor sobriety test showing Laplaka’s obvious struggle. She was handcuffed and placed behind a police vehicle, allowing the mayor to see her sob.

Police said they found a water bottle containing vodka and a small bottle of liquor in Laplaka’s car.

Witnesses allegedly saw the mayor driving recklessly and then noticed the child. Police said the incident occurred at 6:11pm on St. Patrick’s Day, NBC Philadelphia. The individual provided a video that was allegedly shown a vehicle shaking across the lane.

According to NBC Philadelphia, court documents said Laplaka “appears to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crime.”

Police accused the mayor of putting DUI and child welfare at risk.

Her arrest has called on several local people to resign Thursday to the Lumberton Township Committee for Mayor Laplaka.

Commissioner Terrance Benson said she believes Mayor Gina Laplaka should resign from her post.

“My personal opinion is that the mayor will step down and heal himself,” Benson told NBC Philadelphia.

Many people expressed concern during the public comment period, which lasted more than an hour.

“Now we have huge black eyes and black clouds in our town,” said business owner and resident Amy Callahan.

According to NBC Philadelphia, she said, “We believe we need to move forward as a community.

Callahan said the mayor had emailed her saying he had no intention of resigning.

Town lawyers informed residents that New Jersey law and town laws did not allow the committee to immediately remove Mayor Laplaka from her seat.

“She’s been elected to you, and the only way she’s taken away is for her to step down or take any action you think is necessary to move forward in the recall election,” the lawyer said, according to NBC Philadelphia News.

“Gina is currently undergoing inpatient care dealing with her problems,” Laplaka’s husband said. statement Go to action news.
