Active Shooter Incident at Villanova University

On Thursday afternoon, authorities responded to reports of active shooters at Villanova University, prompting an order to secure the campus and nearby areas.

Around 4:30 PM, the university’s emergency alert system warned, “Active shooter on the VU campus. Move to location. Lock/barricade door. More information is available.” Minutes later, Radner Township Police confirmed they were actively addressing the situation on campus.

The Radner Township Police Station reported, “Police are currently at Villanova University due to the active shooter incident. All residents and students nearby are being asked to evacuate. More details will come from the Police Commissioner’s office.”

Additionally, local and federal law enforcement agencies were on-site responding to the reports. Governor Josh Shapiro advised everyone to avoid the area and follow instructions from local authorities, promising further updates as information became available.

By 5 PM, officials from Villanova advised students and staff to steer clear of Scarpa Hall, the law school. They reiterated the need to move to safety and secure doors, emphasizing that police were on the scene.

The Radner Township Police Department indicated they would share updates through the Police Commissioner’s office. As night fell, no details had been released about any victims, suspects, or motivations related to the incident.
