According to WXII 12, a North Carolina family on Monday claimed the police officer who allegedly shot their dog Sunday killed the wrong dog.
Adam Burns, owner of a dog named Hank, said police officers “shot my black lab for no reason. First of all, I don’t have a German Shepherd.” WXII12.
“I fell to my knees. I didn’t know what to do. I was broken. I couldn’t bring him back,” Burns said.
Officers responded to a call Sunday morning from a woman concerned about a stray German shepherd in her yard, according to the High Point Police Department. press release. Officers were unable to catch the dog, and neighbors reportedly misdirected officers and sent them to the wrong house.
“A black dog (not a German Shepherd) came out of the back of the house, barked furiously, and lunged at the officers,” the press release said.

“Pow, pow, pow, pow! Exactly, the dog died before I got down here,” said Lee Barnes, Adam’s father.
“What are you doing? You killed my son’s pet. He will be devastated.”
“The dog was in our yard, so there was no reason to shoot it. If the police felt their lives were in danger, they might have gotten back to the car faster than firing four shots,” Lee’s wife added.
Adam said his 9-year-old dog is just doing what other dogs do.
“There was a stranger in front of his house when his family was out and he didn’t know Adam and he was going to bark. He was going to run away. A good dog would be. will do.”
Adam added, “I’m not here to demand anyone’s job or fire anyone, but I want them to acknowledge what happened.” “I want someone to come out and say sorry.”
Police are investigating the incident.
