On June 30, 2013, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew lost their lives fighting the Yarnell Hill fire. The City of Prescott, Prescott Fire Department, state agencies and organizations will remember Granite Mountain Hotshot through commemorative events and activities marking his 10th anniversary from the tragedy.

Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:30 am – Hotshot Tribute Mural unveiling at the Prescott Chamber of Commerce (117 West Goodwin). “The Reveal” artist Katya von Krall unveils a tribute mural to Hot Shot that will be installed on the side of the Chamber of Commerce building on Montezuma Street.

Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:30 am – 5th Anniversary Celebration of the Learning and Tribute Center. Comments from Prescott Fire Chief Holger Dule and Mayor Phil Good will be performed by his Central Arizona Pipe Drum Corps. Surviving star Brendan McDonough will be on hand to sign the book. Friday, June 30, 2023, 3:00 PM – Public Memorial – South side of Court Square. Stakeholders from across the state will attend. Former All-Star Brendan McDonough will offer a prayer for All-Stars, and Ryder Ashcraft, son of one of the dead All-Stars, will deliver a short speech. The ceremony ends with court bells ringing and a high-flying flight from Luke Air Force Base. Following the ceremony, the Yavapai County Courthouse bells will ring 19 times at 4:42 p.m. to commemorate the fallen heroes.
