PHOENIX — Proceedings are underway to extradite Lori Valor Daybell to the state of Arizona.
A warrant for her arrest was filed in Maricopa County on Wednesday, according to superior court documents. A note under the filing document states that the warrant was “submitted for extradition proceedings.”
Prosecutors were planning to extradite to Arizona a so-called terminally ill mother who had been convicted of several felonies in Idaho, including the murder of two children who lived in the Valley.
On Monday, an Idaho judge sentenced children to life in prison without parole for the deaths of their children Tyree Ryan and JJ Barrow, as well as husband Chad Daybell’s first wife, Tammy Daybell.

Valor Daybell faces two additional murder conspiracy charges in Maricopa County, according to court records.
12News previously reported that one of the charges was related to the death of Chandler’s fourth husband, Charles Varrow.
In May, an indictment in Gilbert’s other case was released, revealing that Valor Dabell was charged with second-degree murder conspiracy to kill her niece’s ex-husband, Brandon Boudreau. . Unlike the other victims, Boudreau is still alive.

A spokeswoman for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said the extradition process from Idaho to Arizona could take months.
Arizona must obtain an administrative agreement to extradite Valor Daybell within a week of the verdict. The Arizona Governor’s Office must begin its paperwork, and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and Maricopa County Attorney’s Office must approve the request before forwarding it to the Idaho governor, the spokesperson said.
If Idaho approves, the state of Arizona will have 30 days to take Valor Daybell and hold him in Arizona, a spokeswoman said.
At a press conference last month, county attorney Rachel Mitchell said she hopes to get Valor Daybell to Arizona by the end of the year.
Spokespeople for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the Maricopa County Superior Court were not immediately available Wednesday evening for more information about the warrant.
The documented crime was first-degree murder, and the date of the crime listed on the documentary evidence matches the date Boudreau said someone attempted to shoot him.

The details of the case began to unravel in 2019.
The first significant incident in July of that year was the death of Charles Varrow, shot by Lori’s brother Alex Cox. Initially, Cox told Chandler officers that he was acting in self-defense. Investigators now believe he conspired with Lori to murder her husband.
After Charles’ death, Lori moved with her children Tyree and JJ to Rexburg, Idaho, where Chad Daybell lived. Investigators believe the children were murdered in September 2019.
In early October 2019, Brandon Boudreau called 911 after someone attempted to shoot him. He was not shot, but investigators believe Alex Cox may have pulled the trigger.
Lori married apocalyptic author Chad Daybell in November 2019 after Chad’s first wife, Tammy, was murdered in mid-October of the same year.
Investigators found Tyree and JJ’s bodies buried in Chad Daybell’s backyard in June 2020.
In May 2021, Chad and Lori were charged with murder and conspiracy to kill a child. Chad was also charged with murdering his first wife, Tammy Dabell, and Lori was charged with conspiring to kill Tammy.
After two delays for mental health checks, Lori’s trial began in April 2023 and took about six weeks before a jury returned a guilty verdict on all six charges she faced. Throughout the proceedings, Idaho prosecutors accused Lori, Chad, and Alex of conspiring to kill people who were “obstacles” to Chad and Lori’s relationship.
Chad Daybell faces another murder trial over the deaths of Tyree, JJ and Tammy. No date has been set yet, but it is expected to take place sometime in 2024. Chad Daybell has not been charged with any crime in Arizona.
Alex Cox died at his home in Gilbert in December 2019 before he was indicted in those cases.
