A history professor claimed his colleague was fired from a California university for sharing conservative political beliefs, according to a lawsuit filed June 1.

Mr Johnson will succeed Mr Garrett Renegade Institute for LibertyAccording to the Free Speech Institute, it is a coalition of schools made up of “B.C. faculty and staff who value true academic freedom, free speech and critical thinking.” press release. The lawsuit alleges that the group is “demonized by school administrators.”
Johnson is asking the university not to take disciplinary action based on his political views, according to the complaint. It also seeks the issuance of an injunction to prevent universities from investigating or firing him based on his speeches.
Mr Johnson also came under intense scrutiny from university authorities after he took issue with comments posted on the group’s Facebook page by another colleague, according to the lawsuit.
The Free Speech Institute and Bakersfield University did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
