A Lake Havasu man was arrested on multiple drug and weapon charges during a traffic stop last weekend. He is currently not in custody because the Mojave County Attorney’s Office has declined to press charges in the matter.
On June 2, police officers were stopped at a traffic light near the intersection of South Acoma Boulevard and Route 95. The vehicle that was driving in front of the police cruiser turned left onto the highway and the driver was identified as 30 years old. Cody M. Love – Reportedly made some sharp fixes. Police said Love nearly hit a highway guardrail five times before officers began to stop traffic.
Police said Love had a license suspension for a previous DUI and was unable to show his driver’s license when stopped. The report said Love may have appeared visibly intoxicated at the scene.
The officers demanded that Love get out of the car. During questioning, Love told police he had a handgun in the car’s center console.
Love was taken into custody on the spot. Police said Love admitted to having an unloaded rifle in the back seat of the car. When police searched the car, they found glass pipes and plastic containers suspected of containing methamphetamine.
Officers also found a loaded handgun and a vial containing 25 alleged fentanyl pills in the vehicle’s center console, the report said. Officers also allegedly found 112 live 9mm rounds, six Glock magazines, an additional 30-round magazine, and pieces of burnt aluminum foil containing partially melted blue pills inside Love’s vehicle. . An affidavit purportedly given by Love said he smoked pills before driving.
Love was taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Officers obtained a warrant to take two blood samples from Rab to test for toxic substances that may have been in his bloodstream at the time of his arrest.
After being released from Havasu Regional Medical Center, Love was transferred to the Lake Havasu City Jail. He has been charged with felonies including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, denial of possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon in a drug offense, and driving while intoxicated.
Prosecutors on Tuesday chose not to file felony charges against Love pending further investigation.
