According to court documents, police in Texas have arrested Austin Aldama, the son of “Cheer” star Monica Aldama, on 10 counts of possessing child pornography, TMZ reported.
Legal documents show Aldama was arrested Thursday in Navarro County after a warrant was issued for his arrest. TMZ. According to TMZ, prosecutors claim that the evidence against Aldama includes multiple videos with filenames of minors allegedly engaging in sex acts, and that the children were under the age of 10. According to documents, the 27-year-old was arrested and processed at the county jail, TMZ reported. He was later released on bail under various conditions, including submitting to unannounced drug tests, according to the documents. Aldama will also be required to submit to a voluntary search of his technology, including his cell phone and computer, as requested by the court, the paper reported. As part of the conditions of his release, the document states that he is prohibited from viewing any form of pornographic images, the report said.
As of this writing, Aldama had not yet been arraigned and therefore had not entered a plea, documents show, TMZ reported. It is unclear how he will proceed with this legal matter.
This isn't the first time the show has faced such problems. According to TMZ, Aldama's arrest marks the second time a popular Netflix show has been plagued by a child pornography scandal. One of the stars of “Cheer,” Jerry Harris, was also reportedly indicted on child pornography charges and later convicted of a series of related crimes in 2022.
