Flagship Production Plant Makes Proton Green a Top 10 Helium Producer in North America
Houston, Texas / ACCESSWIRE / June 23, 2023 / Proton Green, LLC (“Proton Green” or the “Company”), a leading North American helium, beverage-grade CO2 and carbon sequestration hub operator, announced the launch of its Phase I helium extraction plant in St. Louis. The Johns Dome property spans approximately 150,000 adjacent acres. The St. John’s property, located in Apache County, Arizona, sits atop one of the largest helium and carbon dioxide reservoirs in North America, with an estimated 33 billion cubic feet of helium and 9 trillion cubic feet of accessible reservoirs. His CO2 is stored. Remarkably, the helium and CO2 produced in this region have no hydrocarbon content.
Commencement of production at the Phase I helium extraction plant places Proton Green among the top 10 helium producers in North America, behind Exxon, Kinder Morgan, NASCO and partners in the U.S. Strategic Helium Stockpile. Proton Green’s Phase I helium extraction plant is expected to reach nameplate capacity in the coming weeks as standard ramp-up and risk management procedures are implemented. Proton Green production has fixed-price off-take agreements with two multinational industrial gas distributors and distributors.
Steve Looper, Chief Executive Officer of Proton Green, LLC commented: The company will begin delivering output from the plant and will use the lessons learned in Phase 1 to optimize completion of the Phase 2 plant, which is expected to begin construction in Q3 2023. We are very grateful to our construction and technology partners, as well as our offtake partners for their continued trust in Proton Green. “
About Proton Green LLC
Proton Green LLC is poised to become one of North America’s leading helium and beverage grade CO2 producers, as well as one of North America’s leading carbon sequestration operators. Through its operational management of St. John’s Field, a 152,000-acre site in Apache County, Arizona, the company manages massive helium, CO2 and carbon reservoirs. Both helium and beverage grade CO2 are still in short supply. Helium is used to cool magnets in MRI systems, as the temperature of silicon during semiconductor manufacturing, in space and satellite system applications, and many other critical technologies. Carbon capture and sequestration is fast becoming a climate change imperative, and the company has the capacity to inject up to 22 million tons of CO2 per year into key watersheds and over 1 billion tons of total storage capacity. .
