‘Put Your Subway Sandwich Away’: Jeanine Pirro Responds to Man Who Allegedly Tossed Sub at Officer

Subway Assault Incident Leads to Charges

A lawyer in Washington, D.C., Janeine Pillo, shared on Wednesday that her office has charged a man for allegedly assaulting a federal officer. This incident occurred on Monday when the individual, dressed in a pink shirt, reportedly threw a sandwich at an officer and then fled the scene.

In a video, the man can be seen jumping and yelling at the officer before launching his sandwich. Pillo characterized the act as an assault on law enforcement. She emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating that “if you assault a law enforcement officer, you will be charged.” I guess the guy thought it was a joke, but it seems he might not find it amusing anymore.

Pillo also commented on President Trump’s commitment to improving safety in D.C., mentioning the collaboration with federal law enforcement to tackle crime. “We didn’t just stand by while this man confronted an officer,” she noted, explaining the circumstances leading to the incident.

Meanwhile, President Trump declared a “public safety emergency” and ordered the deployment of the National Guard to address rising violent crime in the area. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt reported that nearly 850 officers were active on the night of the incident, resulting in 23 arrests linked to serious crimes, including murder and firearms offenses. Six illegal firearms were also confiscated.

Reports indicate that crime in Washington has seen a significant drop of approximately 35% in 2024, though it’s worth considering what types of crimes are being counted. The Metropolitan Police Department’s statistics only account for certain violent crimes—murder, sexual assault, and armed robbery—while excluding aggravated assaults and weapon use from the general category.

Pillo reacted strongly to questions from reporters, suggesting that the atmosphere around crime is shifting in the district. She expressed frustration over the focus on reduced crime rates when families are still dealing with the consequences of violence. Her words struck a chord, prompting reflections on the realities faced by individuals in the community.

This crackdown on crime follows several high-profile violent incidents in the capital, including a recent carjacking that occurred in the early hours on August 5, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in D.C.
