Putin Attacks British and EU Diplomatic Sites Despite Trump’s Efforts for Peace

Russia Strikes Kiev, Targeting Diplomatic Building

On Thursday morning, Russia launched a wave of airstrikes in Kiev, specifically targeting a building that accommodates European diplomats, as reported by Politico. The attacks resulted in at least 12 fatalities and damaged a residential block used by both the European Union and British delegations.

While no injuries or deaths among the staff of the delegations have been reported, one official described the assault as involving “large” drones. A spokesperson for the committee, Ariana Podesta, stated, “The attack is completely unacceptable. We will never waver in our support for Ukraine.”

In recent months, President Donald Trump has focused on brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine, highlighted by a significant meeting in Anchorage with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following the strikes, Trump expressed irritation over Putin’s continued bombings during ongoing peace discussions. He had previously warned of possible sanctions and tariffs should Russia refuse to engage in serious peace talks.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has insisted that any peace accord must include security assurances from Western nations. Putin has indicated a willingness to halt hostilities, provided that Russia maintains control over much of the Donbas region.

Additionally, Ukraine confirmed that Russian forces have begun expanding into the Dnipropetrovsk region, previously a hub for the country’s industrial activities. While Russia does not formally claim this region in its peace discussions, such territorial losses could negatively impact Ukrainian morale.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the situation.
