Queen Creek student wins Junior Achievement award

Queen Creek students selected for Arizona’s “2023 Under 18” Junior Achievement.

Eighteen students have been honored for starting businesses and nonprofits, volunteering, and advocating for causes. Students will receive their awards at an awards ceremony on Thursday, April 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in his JA BizTown at 636 W. Southern Ave., Tempe.

Katherine Cecala, CEO of Junior Achievements of Arizona, said in a press release: “They advocate causes, start nonprofits to help others in our communities, work with schools to bring new ideas and programs to schools, care for the environment, and champion causes. They all have bright futures and we are honored to have known them.”

Eighteen-year-old Queen Creek High School senior Isabella Serrano is one of the 2023 18 Under 18 winners.

According to the press release, “Isabella is committed to serving her community through volunteerism. From leading events for the Animal Welfare League and Pinal County Animal Shelter to sending toothbrushes to developing countries around the world. And so, Isabella is always looking for ways to make an impact.”

Junior Achievement of Arizona is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing “the knowledge and skills Arizona students need to manage their finances, plan for the future, and achieve smart academic and career success. We help you succeed in work and life by providing you with the best and most economical choice.”
