Quentin Tarantino Shares His Favorite Films
Quentin Tarantino, the renowned director, has shared his thoughts on his favorite film and what he considers to be the ultimate representation of his work.
During an interview on the “Church of Tarantino” podcast, he revealed his strong emotional connection to his films, saying, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite. ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my best.” This distinction highlights both his personal attachment and professional judgment.
Tarantino elaborated further, noting that he believes “Kill Bill” to be his ultimate film, emphasizing that it’s something no one else could have created the way he did. “Every aspect of it is very ripped from my imagination, my status, my love, my passion, my obsession,” he expressed.
He continued, “So I think Kill Bill was a film that I was born to make. ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my masterpiece, while ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my favorite.” It seems there’s a subjective nature to his preferences that makes it a bit complicated—his favorite doesn’t necessarily align with what he deems his best work.
When it comes to his screenwriting, Tarantino shared that he considers “Inglourious Basterds” to be his strongest script, followed closely by “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” He admitted, “There’s an ‘eight full of hatred’ aspect, which might just be my best direction of my material.” This kind of nuanced reflection gives insight into his creative process—it’s a balance of pride in his work and an understanding of its complexities.
As for his future in filmmaking, he hasn’t finalized his plans for his tenth film. However, there’s been talk about possibly revisiting “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” for a sequel. It’s a thought that leaves fans both excited and curious about what lies ahead.
