Ranger’s Log through March 26 | Williams-Grand Canyon News

Below is a list of calls from the South Rim District Report for the period ending March 26th.

On March 12, an off-duty ranger found the body under the Trailview Overlook. After investigation and recovery, rangers identified the deceased as his 52-year-old man from San Francisco, California. Rangers believe the incident to be a suicide. Investigation is ongoing.

On March 15, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) asked rangers to respond to Tusayan with a cold attack report. The Rangers held the scene until the CCSO arrived. After an investigation, all parties were released with a warning from his CCSO.

On March 16, rangers were requested by the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a medical examination of a 54-year-old woman from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Rangers contacted her woman on her cell phone and she told Rangers that she received help with her suicidal thoughts, which she stopped after asking for help.

On March 16, rangers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual in Yavapai West. Rangers have identified the person as his 34-year-old man from Page, Arizona. Subject provided transportation to and from home during stay.

On March 16, Rangers responded to Victor Hall requesting a report of the jumper. Rangers have identified a 46-year-old male Grand Canyon resident who was intoxicated and injured. , instructed individuals to call dispatch if they changed their minds.

On March 16th, Rangers received a report of a cold assault. The 28-year-old Grand Canyon resident reported being “beaten” at his party at House on Bourbon Street. The man had visible trauma to him but refused to see a doctor. Investigations into two incidents are ongoing. Rangers believe they are related.

On March 17, Rangers responded to reports of a man trying to provoke a fight on Bourbon Street. From one window of the cabin, a ranger observed one man about to engage in a fight with another. Two subjects, aged 28 and 37, residents of the Grand Canyon, were detained for investigation and denied medical treatment.A 28-year-old girl was verbally warned of disorderly conduct and further assisted. She was advised by two subjects to call a ranger if needed.

On March 17, rangers initiated a traffic stop for driving behavior. An investigation revealed that the driver was her 20-year-old Grand Canyon resident, who was arrested for driving under the age of 21.

On March 19, rangers were dispatched to Bright Angel Lodge and found an upset worker who had screamed and beat himself. Rangers identified a woman, a Grand Canyon resident with a history of mental health problems, who was verbally warned of disruptive behavior and instructed to stay home for the day.

On March 19, a shirtless man was reported to be knocking on a door on Bourbon Street asking for help. The man told the rangers an incoherent story of being kicked out of a party at a nearby hut. Rangers identified the man as a 25-year-old resident of the Grand Canyon, after which he was arrested on a statewide warrant for dangerous drugs.

On March 22, rangers noticed a large crowd of people coming out of Yavapai Lodge and Delaware North Company (DNC) Engineering bursting into the building. Rangers observed a strong smell of burning electrical material and smoke. Grand He was responded by the Canyon Fire Department and the Tusayan Fire Department and assisted in the evacuation. With the building de-hazarded, he was turned over to DNC Engineering to fix the electrical problem.

On March 25, rangers were dispatched following reports of assaults in the parking lot of the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. Her stepmother was reported to have had an argument with her stepdaughter. Rangers located the individual, interviewed those involved, and released him after issuing a verbal warning of disorderly conduct.

On March 25, CCSO asked Rangers to seek a verbal counter-argument from Best Western in Tusayan. The Rangers arrived at a sober place with two drunken women. One of them had refused to leave the other room.The Rangers held the scene until the CCSO arrived.

On March 25, rangers received a report of a suspicious person in El Tovar. Rangers identified his 36-year-old man from Porterville, Calif. by several trespassing notices issued in Flagstaff. Xanterra Fire personnel attended to his El Tovar, found him on his third floor with a fire extinguisher, and banged on the door. They believe he sneaked into the basement and set off the fire alarm. After investigation, the Rangers provided the subject with courteous transportation to Tusayan.

On March 25, CCSO asked rangers to respond to Best Western in Tusayan after a man tried to break down a woman’s door. Three residents said neighbors threatened to kill them and tried to force their way into their rooms. They also said he was drunk and possibly on methamphetamine. Rangers were unable to contact the suspect and remained at the scene until the CCSO arrived.
