NFL Suspends Rashee Rice for Six Games
The NFL has announced that Rashee Rice, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, will face a six-game suspension at the start of the 2025 season due to a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
This news was first reported by Tom Pelissero from the NFL Network, who indicated that Rice will not appeal his suspension. The NFL confirmed the decision and made the information publicly available.
As part of his punishment, Rice is currently prohibited from practicing with the Chiefs. His suspension will be unpaid and will take effect soon. He can return to play on October 13th, following the Chiefs’ sixth game against the Detroit Lions.
The situation arises from his involvement in a multi-vehicle collision in Dallas back in March 2024, which reportedly caused serious injuries. In July, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to two felony charges related to the incident.
To mitigate the fallout, Rice has agreed to pay around $115,000 to the victim in medical expenses, allowing him to determine the timing of his incarceration.
During his absence from the team, the Chiefs will be playing against several opponents, including the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
He will be eligible to return when the Chiefs face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 at home.
