Ray Stevens Recovers from Heart Attack and Plans to Sell Venue
Country music legend Ray Stevens has shared that he is on the mend following a mild heart attack, and he’s eager to reignite his career.
After experiencing health concerns, he underwent minimally invasive heart surgery in Nashville, which included having two stents placed due to further blockages, as detailed by his team in an Instagram update. Following a few days of rehabilitation, he has returned home.
The update also mentioned that Stevens intends to sell his West Nashville cabaret showroom. However, he looks forward to performing at an upcoming concert at Kabalay as soon as he’s able.
At 86 years old, Stevens acknowledged in a personal statement that his age and health have led to this decision. “It’s time to slow down with my recent health issues, so selling Cabale is the first step,” he stated, yet he reassured fans about his plans to continue performing and creating new music.
“Once I’m fully recovered, I’m going to do a show. There’s so much I want to accomplish in the recording studio, so I’ll focus my energy there,” Stevens expressed, hinting at his desire to explore new musical avenues.
He also expressed hope for the future of his venue, wishing that the next owner would enjoy it as much as he has. “I want to see someone buy it and enjoy it here as much as I have,” he remarked.
Stevens opened the Kabalay Showroom in 2018, where he has been a regular performer. He described it as a wonderful facility that has hosted a variety of events, including weddings, TV tapings, and charity fundraisers, stating, “It’s primarily an outstanding music venue, and the sound is fantastic.”
The venue boasts 35,000 square feet, featuring a main showroom with ample seating, as well as backstage areas and office space. It even accommodates parking for 300 vehicles and tour buses, reflecting the vibrant activities it has hosted since its inception.
