Rebecca Ferguson Joins Cast Of Highly Anticipated ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie

Actress Rebecca Ferguson will star opposite Cillian Murphy in the upcoming film “Peaky Blinders,” according to reports on Friday.

The big-name actress adds new energy to the already highly anticipated film: The Dune and Mission: Impossible actress was announced as the Netflix film's newest cast member, becoming the first big name to star alongside Murphy's Tommy Shelby. deadlineThe role Ferguson will play has not yet been revealed, adding to the suspense for fans.

Ferguson recently reprised her role as Dame Jessica in Denis Villeneuve's blockbuster Dune: Part II, which grossed $712 million at the box office. The celebrated actress has starred alongside Tom Cruise in three Mission: Impossible films, including Dead Reckoning: Part I, scheduled for release in 2023. She most recently wrapped filming the MGM Studios sci-fi thriller Mercy, opposite Chris Pratt.

A film adaptation of “Peaky Blinders” has been long awaited with fans around the world eager for the psychological thriller to return, and Netflix has greenlit a feature film with Oscar-winning star Murphy reprising his iconic role as the leader of a Birmingham gangster family.

Plot details for the Peaky Blinders movie have not been released, but Tom Harper has been confirmed to direct and is said to be working from a script written by Steven Knight, the creator of the original Peaky Blinders, Deadline reports.

Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy and Guy Healy are listed as producers on the film, with Harper, David Koss, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason credited as executive producers. Knight has previously said the film will be set in World War II, and Deadline reports that production is set to begin in 2024.
