Yuma, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Relay for Life hosts its 27th annual Relay for Life event on Saturday.
Held at Desert Sun Stadium, the event begins at 11am and runs until 11pm. This event honors cancer survivors and honors those whose lives have been taken by cancer.
This is the 27th year Relay for Life Yuma has hosted the event, but previously had to host a relay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During the pandemic, we had a virtual relay in 2020. In 2021, we had an honored ceremony to still remember the survivors and those who lost,” said the American Cancer Society – said Amber Thornton, event lead for Relay for Life. .
Last year, the Relay for Life Yuma hybrid relay Those who can participate in the event in person or online. However, they wanted this year’s event to be in-person only.
“We are thrilled to be fully in person this year and we are all on board. [the] Tracks, walking laps,” Thornton expressed.
The event not only featured the opening ceremony, but also featured bands such as the Upper Room Band performing in front of attendees.
