The 77-member Alabama House Republican Caucus on Wednesday elected state Rep. Chip Brown (R-Hollinger's Island) as vice chair.
The caucus leadership position became vacant with the victory of former state Rep. Wes Kitchens (R-Arab), who previously served as vice chair, in last month's state Senate special election.
“I will work every day to advance the conservative policies shared by House Republicans, support our caucus leaders, and ensure our party maintains a supermajority in Congress for many years to come,” Brown said. In addition to serving as Vice Chairman of the House Republican Caucus, Mr. Brown currently serves as Chairman of the House Ports, Waterways and Intermodal Transportation Committee, and serves on the Economic Development Committee, the Tourism Committee, the Insurance Committee, and the Mobile He also serves on the county legislative committee.
Employed as a commercial real estate agent and entrepreneur, Brown served in the Alabama Army National Guard and was deployed with the U.S. Army to Central Command Forward Operations Headquarters in Southwest Asia during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He also deployed twice to Kabul, Afghanistan, as a military advisor to NATO International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
