House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (of Ohio) threatened to cut federal funding to the Justice Department and the FBI during a hearing on Wednesday over its conduct in Operation Crossfire Hurricane.
“I don’t think you need more training. Jordan and other Republicans have already threatened to block funding for the new FBI headquarters and will likely push for major reforms of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. In some cases, that could include removing provisions that would allow intelligence agencies to review information collected from Americans.

Federal officials used FISA regulations (Section 702) to gather information about Trump campaign aide Carter Page. Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz later revealed that law enforcement officials made “at least 17 serious errors or omissions” in Page’s surveillance application.
