U.S. Representative Barry Moore said foreign nationals caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol should be deported and not allowed to enter the country.

Last week, Moore (R-Enterprise) introduced HR6976 This amendment amends the Immigration and Residency Control Act and stipulates that foreign nationals who commit the crime of drunk driving will be subject to deportation. Alien refers to a person who is a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen.

Moore discussed his bill Wednesday on WVNN's “Yaffee Program.”

“I had a family in my hometown who had lost their son and daughter-in-law to illegal drunk drivers, and I think they had already been deported several times,” Moore explained. “But if they don't have a driver's license, they don't have car insurance, they don't have any accountability in the process, you just slap them on the wrist and send them home. And this drunk driver who was here. unlawfully murdered a young couple.”

The bill is currently moving through the Judiciary Committee.

Moore went on to say, “Therefore, I will be taking up this matter with the Department of Justice next week.” “And I feel like I can get the support of all of my colleagues on this, and hopefully some of the Democrats across the aisle as well. I am optimistic that we will be able to bring it to a vote at some point.”

He also reiterated his promise to vote against funding the government until serious steps are taken to secure the border.

“I will not vote for any more funding for the federal government until we close our borders,” he said. “This is a crisis, and it doesn't matter what political party you belong to or what state you live in right now. We're starting to see the fruits of this wide open border, with 302,000 I crossed the border.”

Moore was referring to the Immigrant Responsibility Project pledge he signed this month.
