Rep. Paul Gosser has returned to his former House committee after being fired for his online conduct in 2021.
Arizona Republican Gosar is represented by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.
Republicans won control of the House from Democrats last year and are now in charge of running the committee.
The Oversight Committee is the House’s primary investigative body for the federal government. Gosar has already called for an investigation into Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, who told his Chinese counterpart that he would warn him if the US planned an attack. He also said former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s actions in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot should come under greater scrutiny.
In a statement about rejoining the previous committee, Gosar said: My great Arizona and my district both score zero. It’s waste, fraud, federal abuse and mismanagement.”
The Natural Resources Commission makes laws on other matters. national parks, indigenous peoples, energy production.
Republicans are now in charge of the committee, and Rep. Raul Grijalva (D., Arizona), a Democrat on the committee, said Republican leaders, including Gosar, were “the most oil and gas I’ve ever seen.” in my time in Congress. ”
“Basically in all their policies they are promoting the privatization of our public lands to oil and gas. It was Gosar’s agenda,” Grijalva told the Arizona Republic.
Grijalva, who has been in Congress for 20 years, is concerned about what the commission will do about mining on public land and how Native Americans will be treated.
“Because of Gosar’s mining affiliation, some on the Resources Board appear to be pushing for the opening of the Grand Canyon and Oak Flats (in Pinal County) to uranium mining. And those are the key areas that the Indian nation … wants to preserve and protect,” he said.
Gosar’s office did not immediately respond to the Republic’s request for comment.
A seventh-term congressman, Gosar represents Arizona’s 9th congressional district, which includes most of the state’s western border, including parts of La Paz, Maricopa, Mojave, and Yuma counties.
