Congressman Dale Strong’s Focus on CCP Influence
Since taking office in January 2023, US Congressman Dale Strong has dedicated a significant portion of his efforts to addressing the increasing impact of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Recently, Strong has worked to reintroduce a bill titled the Shield to the CCP Act (Strategic Home Intelligence Report and Enforcement Act).
If enacted, this legislation would form a dedicated group within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aimed at tackling the threats posed by the CCP. The group would be tasked with assessing and reporting on various “non-traditional tactics” employed by China and the DHS’s involvement in countering them.
“China is one of the most aggressive threats to national security currently,” Strong noted. “This bill ensures that DHS has a specialized team focused on addressing this issue. We’re proud to see broad support from the House as well as our law enforcement partners. I believe we can get this legislation to the president’s desk to safeguard Americans.”
After receiving strong backing in the House last month, the bill has attracted influential endorsements beyond Congress. Recently, it garnered approval from the American Major County Sheriff (MCSA), the National Association of Drug Staff (NNOAC), and the National Association of Fusion Centers (NFCA).
Eric Brown, president of the National Association of Drugs Association, emphasized the urgency of Strong’s bill in combating the rampant drug trafficking facilitated by the CCP. “The CCP plays a direct and indirect role in supporting criminal organizations involved in fentanyl importation and trafficking, which has greatly contributed to addiction and fatalities across the nation,” Brown stated. “We appreciate his commitment to the Shield to the CCP Act, along with dedicating the necessary resources to combat these threats.”
Brown also acknowledged NNOAC’s active role in addressing these challenges and its partnership with DHS to counter the illegal drug trade. Mike Senna, president of the National Fusion Centre Association, shared similar sentiments, noting that Strong’s legislation addresses the critical threat posed by China.
“We commend Representative Strong for championing the Shield to the CCP Act,” Senna expressed. “This bill recognizes the vital importance of national fusion centers and the need for intelligence sharing across all levels of government to bolster national security.”
He added, “We are particularly thankful for the state and local public safety officials who are dedicated to tracking criminal activities and providing timely threat information.” Strong underscored this point, stating that the theft of US intellectual property in China amounts to billions, averaging around $4,000–$6,000 per American family after accounting for taxes.
