REPORT: 15-Year-Old Boy Goes Fishing With His Mom, Ends Up A Hero

A 15-year-old boy from Michigan saved the life of a woman whose car plunged into Lake St. Clair on Tuesday afternoon, WXYZ reports.

John Agnello was fishing with his mother at a marina near the lake when he witnessed a car crash into the water. reportAgnello and another man reportedly jumped into the lake to rescue the female driver who was trapped inside the car.

“I saw the car going through the air and it was already like 15 yards deep in water, that's how far it went,” the teen told WXYZ. “It was like 65 percent water in the car and the door wouldn't open so I had to get her out the window.”

According to the media, Agnello and a male passerby managed to pull the woman to shore, after which the girl jumped back into the lake to check if anyone else was trapped in the car.

John's mother, Beth Agnello, called 911 for help while her son was underwater, according to the outlet. She called her son's actions heroic.

“As a hero, I hope he remains humble and considers his future career options,” Beth told the outlet.

Agnello said he was just doing what his family taught him to do when someone was in trouble, adding that the 15-year-old isn't sure if he plans to become a paramedic someday.

St. Clair Shores Police Department (SCSPD) issued The statement on the accident said the driver was taken to a local hospital for examination.”
