REPORT: Florida Golfer Arrested After Allegedly Punching 87-Year-Old That Led To His Death, Police Say

A Florida golfer has been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter after he allegedly punched an 87-year-old man at The Villages’ Glenview Country Club. The man subsequently died.

Robert Edward Moore Jr., 76, is accused of repeatedly punching his victim, resulting in a cerebral hemorrhage and death weeks later. According to reports, the confrontation between the two took place on June 25. Fox 35 Orlando.

The victim, who identified himself as Dean William Zook, crashed into a car in the club’s parking lot and thought it belonged to Moore, so he asked Moore if they could exchange insurance information.

Instead, Moore allegedly punched Zook several times while trying to block the knock with his hand.

Moore then realizes that the car Zook hit isn’t really his and leaves the scene to find it. (Related: Report: Golfer faces felony charges for pushing man off bridge on golf course)

“Mr Zouk spoke with his attorney after the incident, but before an ambulance was called, he started slurring and stumbling. Doctors then found Zouk bleeding from the brain, and he eventually died on July 16. Found dead,” the Fox 35 report said.

According to ABC News, Moore told police that he responded by punching the man when Zouk grabbed him and wouldn’t let go.

The media continued to report that Moore was released after posting $30,000 bail.
