REPORT: Houston Police Arrest Woman After She Allegedly Locks 7-Year-Old In Cage Under Tree

Police in Texas arrested a woman in early December after allegedly locking her 7-year-old female relative in a dog cage under the defendant’s Christmas tree, local ABC News affiliate reported.

Rose Anderson allegedly punched the girl around Dec. 13. According to ABC 13. According to court documents, the woman locked the girl in a cage “for hours on end.” It is alleged that the girl in the cage was restrained with zip ties, duct tape was placed over her mouth, and she was kicked. Police said the attack on the girl occurred at Anderson’s residence just off Old Spanish Trail in Houston.

Anderson’s motive was to discipline the girl for her behavior at school, the newspaper reported.

Anderson appeared in Harris County Court on Sunday on charges of unlawful restraint and injury to a child. She was released from custody after posting bail.

Records show Anderson is a single mother who works three jobs.

“Well, that’s strange to me. What happened to time out? Let’s take home one of our Christmas presents. But not the dog cage, come on,” said a shocked neighbor of the Anderson family. he told the magazine.

Elsewhere in Houston, a woman was charged with abandoning a child in a burning apartment in early December, ABC 13 separately reported. reported.

Jayla Jenkins, 25, allegedly left her 2-year-old child in the residence with food cooking on the stove.

Neighbors told the news outlet they heard loud noises, smelled smoke and saw smoke coming out of their windows. He enlisted the help of another neighbor to get a fire extinguisher. Jenkins then allegedly rushed back. The 2-year-old, the only child in the residence at the time, was found in a bedroom.

Jenkins was released without posting bail.
