REPORT: Police Arrest New England Patriots Captain Jabrill Peppers On Drug, Assault Charges

On Saturday, police reportedly arrested New England Patriots team captain Jabrill Peppers on multiple charges after an alleged altercation at his home in Boston.

Police responded to a call early Saturday morning in Braintree, Massachusetts, for a report of two people involved in an altercation, CBS News reported. The female victim claims Peppers punched her multiple times, choked her and pushed her down a flight of stairs. CBS News. Initial reports indicate the alleged victim was treated at the scene. Police charged Peppers with assault and battery on an intimate partner, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of a Class B drug, which police believe to be cocaine, according to CBS News.

Police announced the arrest Monday after Peppers was arraigned in Quincy District Court.

The alleged victim said the dramatic incident happened around 4 a.m.

The newspaper reported that the athlete pleaded not guilty on Monday and a court hearing was scheduled for November 22. Peppers had already waived his right to appear in court on the same day.

Peppers, a safety for the Patriots, agreed not to have contact with the alleged victim and was released on $2,500 bail, according to CBS News.

“Judge, in this case, despite the fact that there is evidence that I have already seen, including videotaped evidence, that casts real doubt on the allegations, my client is unable to comply with the terms of the “I don’t dispute that, and he would agree to the same thing,” Peppers’ attorney said, according to CBS News. The 29-year-old athlete was named team captain for the first time after agreeing to a three-year contract extension worth up to $30 million with the Patriots in July.
