REPORT: Slew Of A-Listers In Talks For ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff

With Matthew McConaughey seemingly out of the picture, a slew of A-list stars are reportedly “in negotiations” to star in “Yellowstone's” first full-scale spinoff.

“Suits” star Patrick J. Adams is the latest Hollywood star to take on the Yellowstone College setting. according to Deadline reported Thursday that Adams will star alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell in a future spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's flagship show, currently known as “2024.”

“2024” was originally rumored to be released after the original “Yellowstone” series ended later this year. McConaughey had been quite publicly talked about joining the series to take over the lead role after Kevin Costner (who played John Dutton) completely declined, disappointing himself, fans, cast and crew. However, McConaughey was apparently asking too much of the role, and development has stalled.

The only detail known about “2024” is that it will “continue to explore the Dutton dynasty past and present with new locations and characters, as well as crossover characters.”

TV Line Claim The new series is titled “The Madison” and follows a woman named Stacey Clyburn and her family as they leave New York City to live in Montana after her husband and brother-in-law are killed in a tragic plane crash. In a heartbreaking flashback in “Yellowstone,” we see Dutton comfort his father as he nears the end of his life, weeping about the loss of his wife and how much he misses her and Dutton's brother. Brother? Which brother?

This storyline has yet to be developed, so is it possible that Dutton's brother is married to this Cliburn woman (Pfeiffer?) and that he and his brother die in a plane crash? I don't know how that would play into Costner's contract clause about dying with honor. But if anyone could write it, it's Sheridan.

Production on the mystery series is set to begin in late August ahead of a 2025 premiere, but no stars have signed on to star just yet, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
