Texas Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt on Tuesday accused MSNBC host Joy Reid on Fox News of being “intellectually lazy” for her comments before the Iowa caucuses.
Hunt appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” and spoke about the backlash from some media hosts over Trump's recent victory in the Iowa caucuses. Fox host Laura Ingraham asked the Texas representative his thoughts on Mr. Reid. comment In it, she claimed that Iowa is a “hyper-evangelical white state,” implying that's why voters supported Trump.
The Texas lawmaker pushed back against Reed's comments calling her an “intellectual slacker,” noting that she is a descendant of slaves. (Related: See MSNBC's Worst Moments of the Year)
“It's completely, intellectually lazy. And as its direct descendant [a] Slave — my great-great-grandfather was born [on] PLANTATION — And today I'm standing in front of you in the Lower, caucusing for President Trump, and you're going to call me a racist? ” Hunt questioned.

“By the way, the majority of the audience was white. I didn't really care what they looked like. We shared American ideals. We want our country back. . We want secure borders. We want our economy back. We want to live without hyperinflation. That's it. And those issues. has no regard for race, religion, color or creed,” Hunt said.
“And every time you blow the whistle like that and assume, 'All Republicans are racist,' you're not just going to get elected this year, but as long as I want to get elected, people like me. What am I going to say?In this seat, I know I have the support of the people. [Texas] District 38, they don't care what I look like. ”
Hunt attended former President Donald Trump's caucus on Monday night. But during his speech, he called the Texas congressman a “racist” who supported Trump and was interrupted by hecklers. After the incident, Hunt posted on social media that the former president did not judge him by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
