The Secret Service has ended its protection for former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. following his suspension from campaign rallies, the agency confirmed in an email to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Kennedy announced Friday that he would be suspending his campaign stints in key battleground states and in support of former President Donald Trump. said CBS News reported Sunday that the former candidate “no longer has the protection of the USSS.” (Related: RFK Jr. says he supports Trump)
Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service's communications director, told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Sunday that “Mr. Kennedy is no longer under the protection of the United States Secret Service,” but did not provide further details.
The Kennedy campaign has struggled to secure Secret Service protection since entering the race last April, and after months of requests, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced on July 15 that Kennedy would receive protection.

The endorsement at the time came just days after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13. The attack left former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore dead, grazed Trump's ear with a bullet and seriously injured two other people in the crowd.
After the attack, President Trump called for Kennedy to receive Secret Service protection “immediately” in a post on Truth Social.
“We are in a highly dynamic environment with heightened threats. We, including the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI and other partners across the federal government, take threats very seriously and are adjusting our security efforts as needed. Maintaining safety and security at the presidential campaign events of the former president is one of our highest priorities,” Mayorkas said at the time. “In light of the events over the weekend, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide security for Robert Kennedy Jr.”
Since suspending his campaign, Kennedy confirmed on Fox News on Sunday that he plans to “actively” campaign for Trump going forward.
The Kennedy campaign did not immediately respond to DCNF's request for comment.
