Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a post on X that Republican Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) would be a “great successor” to Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) He said he was deaf.
McConnell announced in a floor speech Wednesday that he will step down as Senate Republican leader in November but will serve out his full term in the Senate until January 2027. “After nearly 40 years in the Senate, Mitch McConnell has announced that he will resign in November,” Kennedy wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “As part of public service, it's important to know when to bring in a new generation. It's time to promote leaders in Washington, D.C., who won't cajole military contractors or push us deeper into foreign conflicts. came.”
“We need representatives who will put the health of Americans above all else,” Kennedy continued. “I believe @RandPaul will be an excellent successor. He has demonstrated good judgment and has the will to put hard-working Americans first.”
Paul has been an outspoken critic of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who will step down as President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser in 2022 and had his case referred to the Justice Department in July. Mr. Paul also opposed multiple omnibus spending bills and called for restraint on Iran after the Islamist terrorist group Hamas carried out a deadly attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
Paul did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
