Rick & Bubba, the iconic radio duo that has provided laughter, authenticity, perspective, personality and community for 30 years, has announced that 2024 will be the final year of their trademark show.
Rick Burgess and Bill “Bubba” Bassey first teamed up in 1994. After 30 years, they announced an Alabama-based operation. “The Rick and Bubba Show” It's nearing the end.
On Thursday, they stressed that their conclusion had nothing to do with their health or personal relationships, with Baba going so far as to say, “That's not what we wanted to hear.”
“We're going to close out this year and we're going to open up and have a great year and have a lot of flashbacks and memories and talk about the past 30 years. By the way, you all made it possible.” Bussey said.
Burgess added that the show isn't ending anytime soon, and there's still a “long runway” and “an entire year” to go before the legendary performance comes to a close.
“Today's not the end of the show. We have a whole year of time to reminisce and talk together, and that's what we need to focus on and celebrate. In this industry, we've been using the same products for 30 years with almost no changes to the lineup. It's unheard of for us to continue. So we are very blessed and you are the ones who have blessed us,” Burgess said.
The show has been broadcast nationally for 30 years on 104.7 WZZK in Birmingham, and since becoming nationally syndicated, it has been heard on stations throughout the South.
