Ricky Gervais Makes Risky Move With Announcement Of Upcoming Netflix Special

Ricky Gervais faced criticism after featuring jokes about terminally ill kids on his show in 2023, but that won't stop him from doing it again.

The comedian has announced he will be embarking on a world tour called “Mortality”, in which he “laughes at death”, but some have said this could lead to it being cancelled. Daily MailBut that's not all: He's also planning to bring this content on tour: According to the Daily Mail, Gervais said he plans to “laugh at the absurdity of death” as part of his new world tour and Netflix special.

This is very similar to the last project the 63-year-old worked on when he launched “Armageddon” on Netflix.

The comedian came under fire after a video clip went viral online in which he was seen calling terminally ill children “bald” and making fun of the fact that they are ill.

Somehow, despite its grim content and overwhelming backlash from parents of terminally ill children, Gervais' show became the highest-grossing comedy show of all time, according to the Daily Mail.

Justifying Mortality's upcoming content, Gervais said, according to the Daily Mail, “We're all going to die. It's OK to laugh about it. Mortality is about the absurdity of life. And death. Here we go.”

His tour is set to begin in late 2024, but upcoming performance dates and locations have yet to be announced. (RELATED: Matt Rife cancels comedy show minutes before it was scheduled to start)
