RiverScene Magazine | Pet Care Takes Center Stage At Havasu Aquatic Center

Becky McSedon

When pets have an emergency health condition, humans are the only ones they can rely on.

Lake Havasu City is home to many loyal furry family members, so learning how to care for them in an emergency is an important part of having a pet.

Because there are so many cats and dogs in Lake Havasu City, the Frontline Coalition will be hosting a Pet CPR/First Aid Class™ program for pets on Sunday in rooms 155-156 at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center (100 Park Ave.).

Classes last approximately six and a half hours, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The class is open to the public and professionals alike and will provide a wide range of information and instruction.

Topics include understanding dog and cat anatomy, dog and cat CPR, artificial respiration, choking, insects, snake bites and stings and much more.

Registration includes a 40-page handbook, professional certificate, and a starter pet first aid kit with an emergency muzzle for safety.

Registration costs vary from $125 to $160.

“We are excited to announce that we will be offering CPR/First Aid classes here in Havasu for professionals and the general public,” said Karina Snyder, Owner/Operator of Zip And Clip Mobile Grooming.

Snyder said he noticed a lack of resources for cats and dogs and a high demand.

“I started researching dog CPR because there are CPR classes for humans and I thought there must be one for pets too. To my surprise, I found Malinda's ad on a groomer's page on Facebook,” she said.

Snyder took the class in Phoenix and loved it so much that he wanted to bring the class to the Lake Havasu community.

The instructor for this class is Malinda Malone, a member of the Frontline Coalition.
