Government Shutdown Concerns Echo in Congress
US Representative Robert Adderholt (R-Haleyville) recently remarked that Democrats are directly opposing the prospect of a potential government shutdown on October 1, 2025.
House Republicans managed to push a bill through with the support of just one Democrat. This legislation aims to keep the government funded until November 20th, although it was ultimately blocked by Democrats in the Senate.
Adderholt, who chairs the House Budget Committee, pointed fingers at the Democrats, claiming that if a shutdown occurs, it will be their responsibility.
“Last week, the House passed a clean Continuing Resolution to maintain government operations,” Adderholt stated on Thursday. “This was what Democrats claimed they wanted, yet they voted against it, contributing to the shutdown. Senate Democrats also rejected keeping the government functioning. So, any idea of Republicans wanting to create a shutdown just doesn’t hold water.”
Last week, the house passed a clean CR to keep the government running. This is what the Democrats said they wanted. But then they opposed it and voted for a shutdown. And Senate Democrats also said they would be no to keep the government running. So, I’m trying to say…
Senate Democrats put forth an alternative Continuing Resolution last week that would fund the government until October 31st. This proposal seeks to permanently renew enhanced health insurance premium subsidies set to expire at year-end and proposes a significant influx of Medicaid funding for Republicans through a comprehensive package.
US Representative Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) commented that Democrats are obstructing progress in Congress.
“Americans voted for President Trump, and his plans for our country are already showing considerable success,” Moore asserted. “It’s about time Democrats stop hindering progress and agree to a straightforward, short-term Continuing Resolution from House Republicans.”
The Americans voted for President Trump and his plans for our country have already brought about great success. It’s time for Democrats to stop getting in the way and agree to clean, short-term CR House Republicans.
