The Rockabilly Alumni Association returns to Lake Havasu City this weekend to celebrate 16 years of '50s style, sad, and street cars.
It's not the type of event common in Southwest communities, but organizer Kenny Cuppetelli said Rockabilly Reunion is a place for hipsters, personalities, young people, old people, and everyone in attendance. It says that it offers something to people.
“This is a 50's themed event and is open to all ages,” Cuppetelli said. “We're endorsed by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and may be the only event in Havasu that can entertain four generations of a family at once. It's basically a blast from the past.”
The event will feature more than 800 classic cars on display starting Friday at noon, and vendors will sell food, beverages, retail items, classic clothing, accessories and more. The event will feature everything rockabilly lovers need to unwind, including a 1950s barbershop and hair salon, a dry-hewn camp, and carnival attractions.
“We plan to expand the vending space and food court and use almost every square inch of the property this year.”
The event will feature not only the largest pinup beauty pageant west of the Mississippi River, but also multiple stages with more than 20 live music artists scheduled to participate this weekend.
This year's Rockabilly Reunion will be held starting Friday from noon to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event will be held at Windsor Beach on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Admission to the event is $25 per day, and children under 11 are free. You can purchase a 3-day pass for $75 and a VIP all-access pass for $200. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online. eventbright.com.
