Airtagged wallet stolen in Rockford vehicle robbery

Tracking information began to be sent to Rockford PD Wednesday night by a signal from an Apple Air Tag inside a wallet stolen during a car robbery.

After monitoring the home from which the airtag signal originated, Rockford Police “stopped a vehicle that departed from a home matching the description of the suspect vehicle and detained the two occupants.”

One of the vehicle’s occupants, Jonathan Bailey, was identified by detectives who matched the robbery suspect’s description.

“A search warrant was obtained for a home on Ridge Avenue and various stolen items were recovered,” Rockford Police said.

Bailey was taken into custody and held in the county jail.
