ROD BLAGOJEVICH: European Lawfare Could Lead To A New War

Vice President JD Vance Recent speeches A strong chord occurred at the security conference in Munich. He called for Western Europe’s leaders for their use law– Weaponization of the legal system – as a threat to political tools and democracy. Ironically, forty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, democracy and freedom were found to be siege from the powers that once defended them. In America, this is not a foreign concept. As Democrats, we have seen them ruthlessly pursue criminal cases against Donald Trump, working with politicized prosecutors and courts. Their purpose was clear. It was to imprison major opposition candidates and prevent him from running for president. It was a judicial system abuse and a dangerous precedent. It is a play of political power that aims to deny Americans the right to choose leaders in free elections.

This was a breathtaking abuse of justice and an unprecedented attack on democracy. No American president has endured what Trump faced.

However, this war and democracy with Trump is no longer confined to American soil.

Vice President Vance was right: The Low Fair crossed the Atlantic. In Europe, the political left uses the same tactics that follow Trump’s Conservative leaders who have won or are poised to do so.

To stop these candidates or to cancel the election results, the left-wing European elites have adopted a simple formula. If we fail, the winner will go to prison. ” And so they aim to prohibit these leaders from operating or retaining them for public office.

This anti-democratic ideology works under dangerous premises. That means people’s choices are only valid if they match the agenda on the left. Conservative populists are routinely accused of being branded as “Proputin” or being accused of “Russian conspiracy.”

Case studies of France and Romania

Just two weeks ago, French court Judgment Marine Le Pen, a conservative national assembly leader in France and a leading candidate for president, took office for four years in prison. Her crime allegations? Political behavior not only routinely in French politics, but also tolerated when violated by leftist politicians.

A month ago, Romanian High Court Disqualified Cælin Georgescu is a populist conservative and frontrunner in the May 2025 presidential election. His crime? He won the first round of votes in November 2024. The court refused to admit his victory, rescheduling the election to prevent him from participating.

The Crisis of the Republic of Srpska

But perhaps the most surprising case is that it will be deployed in the Republic of Srpska, an autonomous Serb group within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia, located in southeastern Europe, rarely becomes our headline, but it should. The area is a crater of unresolved ethnic and religious tensions.

The scars from the Bosnian War in the 1990s have taken more than 100,000 lives, but they are still fresh. Today, fears continue between the orthodox Serbs and Catholic Kloths of Christianity, that a majority of Bosniak Muslims are determined to create a single Islamic state and erase their autonomy and religious identity.

This fragile balance is now confused Christian SchmidtGerman diplomats serving as senior officials in the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Schmidt is increasingly inserted into Bosnian internal affairs by acting with drastic and unelected authority and targeting the leadership and cultural identity of the Republic of Srpska.

December 20, 2023, Schmidt publicly warned Republika srpska will not celebrate January 9th (January 9th, known as the Republic of SRPSKA). Such compliance states that from July 1, 2023, it has violated the Bosnian Constitutional Court and his own executive order ruling.

Nevertheless, the president Milorado Dodikthe three-time elected leader of Republika Srpska, I’ve made progress There is a traditional holiday observance. In retaliation, Schmidt sparked a criminal case against him. That was what Dodik did on February 26, 2025 Judgment He was banned from detaining public office for one or six years in prison.

Dodik’s so-called attack? To celebrate the establishment of SRPSKA in 1992, honor the local holiday celebrating St. Stephen, a respected saint in the Orthodox Church in Serbia. Since The 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement. But Schmidt unilaterally criminalised the celebration and moved to restrain it, fearing it would anger the sense of Muslim majority.

Reflecting the will of his people, President Dodik refused to obey. The Serbs of Srpska continued to celebrate their heritage and religion. For this reason, their presidents were convicted, sentenced and politically exiled.

Imagine the US president being jailed for celebrating July 4th. Will we follow? Or do you resist?

Like Trump, Le Pen and Georgek, Dodik is still rebellious. Supported by his parliament and people, he imprisoned him and rejected Schmidt’s authority to negate the will of his voters.

There’s a standoff right now.

Europe on the brink

The situation is dangerous. Issued by a Bosnian court administered by Muslims Arrest letter For Dodik. Schmitt I requested an interpol Detain him during diplomacy Visit to Israel With Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Interpol refused, saying it wasn’t based on politically motivated demands.

However, the European Union escalated tensions last week. Expanding The 1,000 Czech troops to Bosnia are said to support Dodik’s arrest. This is not peacekeeping. It’s provocation.

High German representatives are playing dangerous games. The Serbs will not give away what they see as their sovereignty and identity. If Schmidt’s laws led to war, the Balkans could erupt again, but this time Europe has already been caught up in conflict due to the war in Ukraine.

The last two wars burning Europe simultaneously in 1939, when Germany invaded Poland shortly after Germany conquered Czechoslovakia.

The world must wake up. Bosnia is not just a local issue, it’s a warning. Philosopher George Santayana I once said“People who can’t remember the past are criticized for repeating it.”

One war in Europe is too many wars. Seconds are devastating.

rod Blagojevich He was a former Democratic governor of Illinois from 2003 to 2009. He currently represents the Republic of SRPSKA and is registered under the Foreign Agent Registration Act.
