YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) responded to a fatality that occurred Monday.
YCSO also said the crash occurred near County 13th Street and Avenue G.
When they arrived at the scene, YCSO learned that both a brown 2002 Toyota Tacoma and a silver 2013 Nissan Altima were displaced when they crashed head-on down Avenue G.
The northbound Tacoma crossed the middle lane and collided with the southbound Altima.
As a result of the crash, the Altima’s driver, 31-year-old Yosselin Martinez of Somerton, was injured and died at the scene.
However, a 3-year-old boy on the Altima suffered minor injuries and paramedics took the child to the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC).
The Tacoma driver and passengers survived, and paramedics also took them to the YRMC for treatment.
YCSO has notified the next of kin and the investigation is ongoing. YCSO also said alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
