Some issues are more important than politics: family, faith, honor. That's a lesson Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign staff never learned. Her team used the deaths of soldiers as a political attack, but it backfired.
The Biden-Harris Administration's incompetence is evident in the everyday lives of Americans, but especially for the families of the 13 service members who died during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal on August 26, 2021. Since that day, these Gold Star families have watched as their sons and daughters' bodies were brought to America as President Joe Biden watched his watch. They felt a pang of loneliness when the president took away time to honor their children by talking about the death of his own son. Harris has never reached out to these families to thank them for their sacrifices, the families have said publicly.

Despite this indignity, these families have remained silent and neutral. Several have commented to the press about the lack of support from the Biden-Harris Administration, and one father shouted their name during Biden's State of the Union address. Still, there seemed to be a tacit agreement that these families would not influence the election. That is, until the Harris campaign and her cronies in the administration's media decided to turn the third anniversary of their sacrifice into a political attack on the only person who would answer their calls: former President Donald Trump.

Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard alleged Sunday that Biden and Harris had been invited by Gold Star families to a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of their fallen loved ones. Harris aides and White House staff Denied These claims were reported by NBC News.
The families invited former President Trump, who attended, posed for photos with them and even video chatted with family members who were unable to attend the ceremony at their children's graves.

All they wanted was honor and respect for their children who gave their lives for their country. For whatever reason, the Biden-Harris administration couldn't handle this simple act of love. Then, when Trump appeared at Arlington National Cemetery and his callous treatment of these families became clear, the Harris campaign and the media tried to use their grief to score political points. Harris used her X account to attack Trump's visit, claiming it was politically motivated and a “desecration of sacred ground.”
As Vice President, I had the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery several times. It is a solemn place, a place where we come together to honor American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
It is not the place for politics.

“If there's one thing we can all agree on as Americans, it's that our veterans, military families and service members should be honored, never disrespected and treated with the utmost respect and gratitude,” Harris said. According to statements from multiple families, the woman has never contacted the families of No. 13 Abbey Gate to show them “respect and gratitude” for their deaths.

The move was a major miscalculation. Her decision to acknowledge the statement prompted eight of the 13 families to release video responses to Harris. In these videos, which have been viewed millions of times, the families said Harris lacked empathy, blamed the Biden-Harris Administration for their deaths, and criticized her campaign. In addition to the videos, some of the Gold Star families of the Abbey Gate 13 also wrote: A joint statement was issued According to screenshots posted to Trump's X account, he called Harris' post a “disgraceful politicization of this anniversary.” Luke: The moment the Kennedy campaign realized Trump was right about everything.

“Vice President Harris is responsible for the deaths of our sons and daughters. Her Administration's tragic mishandling of the Afghanistan withdrawal directly led to the murder of 13 service members, including our children. Despite multiple requests to meet to discuss the loss of our loved ones, VP Harris repeatedly ignored us and showed a utter lack of empathy and accountability. Her refusal to face the consequences of her Administration's decisions is a profound betrayal of us, Gold Star families,” the statement continued with a screenshot.

“Vice President Harris has proven herself unfit to be Commander in Chief. Her failure to get out of Afghanistan and her disgraceful politicization of this anniversary demonstrate that she lacks the judgment, compassion and leadership necessary for the position. We will continue to hold her accountable for the role she played in our children's deaths and will not stand by and watch her disrespect their memory. America deserves better. Our children deserve better,” the families added in the screenshot.

This is a scathing criticism of the Biden-Harris Administration, who could have avoided this by not trying to politicize this, allowing Trump to pay tribute to the dead at Arlington National Cemetery and showing some compassion to the grieving families. Her failure to do so for these families has made what would have been a small balloon on the election radar into a real political issue. Now, stories about her lack of respect and compassion for fallen soldiers and their families will continue for more than a week. She has prolonged the negative news cycle and spat on military families with less than 70 days until November. In any other decade, she would have lost the election.
